The University of Miami has an absolute prohibition on hazing. Hazing is defined as any intentional, knowing, or reckless act or situation committed on or off campus by a person (whether individually or in concert with other persons) against another person or persons regardless of the willingness of such other person or persons to participate.
Alleged violations of the hazing policy can be reported by calling the University of Miami Police Department at 305-284-6666, the Dean of Students Office at 305-284-5353, or reported online using instructions at doso.miami.edu.
The university requires all students and all incoming students to complete the Vector Solutions Hazing Awareness and Prevention for Students online educational module. In addition, research informed semesterly in person education and training is provided to all student organizations including all members of Greek organizations and student athletes. All Campus Security Authorities are advised on a yearly basis of their duty to report any possible violations of the hazing policy to campus police.
Alleged violations of the hazing policy will be investigated following the University Level Conduct Procedures, Major Level Conduct Procedures and/or the Conduct Procedures for Student Organizations as described in the Student Rights and Responsibilities Handbook at www.miami.edu/srr.
