About Us About Us

The Mission of the Dean of Students Office is to cultivate the intellectual, social, emotional, spiritual, and ethical development of students on the University of Miami campus by providing and overseeing a range of programs that create an optimal living and learning environment. These programs include the Sandler Center for Alcohol and Other Drug Education, the UM Honor Council, Greek Life, and the University Chaplains Association, among others.

DOSO plays a crucial role in promoting order and stability on campus and in making students aware of their rights and responsibilities. The dean and his assistant deans help oversee the judicial (disciplinary) process when university rules have been violated, and they counsel and advocate for students. The office strives to ensure that all cases are handled fairly and follow established protocols. All students are encouraged to educate themselves about their rights and responsibilities and the University’s disciplinary process by reviewing the Student Rights and Responsibilities Handbook.
