Samantha Martin – Graduate Assistant

Samantha Joined the PIER 21 staff in August 2016 as the Graduate Assistant. She was born and raised in Melbourne, Florida just three hours north of Miami. She is pursuing a Master's degree in Higher Education Administration with a concentration in Student Life and Development. Her bachelor’s degree in Psychology is from Florida State University. Samantha is joining the team at PIER 21 to help out in any way she can. She hopes to become more involved in campus life and wants to accomplish this by giving students the tools they need to be successful during their studies. In her free time, she enjoys playing golf, reading, traveling, and taking her 3-year-old puppy, Smokey, on long walks.

Nicole Chabloz

Nicole, returning as a Peer Educator for a third year, is a senior from St. Louis, Missouri, studying Finance with minors in Accounting, French, and Psychology. Heavily involved in Greek life, she has served as the Panhellenic Association President, Vice President of Order of Omega Greek Honor Society, Secretary of Rho Lambda Greek Honor Society, PIER21 Liaison for GAMMA, and a member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority. Currently, she is the Chief of Iron Arrow Honor Society and a President’s 100 Tour Guide. In her free time, Nicole enjoys cheering for the St. Louis Cardinals, singing, talking to her dogs, and watching bad television (The Bachelor). She is excited to attend law school following graduation and looks forward to working with her fellow Peer Educators and PIER21 to help make a difference!

Nate Bates

Nathan is a senior from New Bedford, Massachusetts, studying Biomedical Engineering with a double minor in Public Health and Chemistry. Nate participates in various activities on campus, and is most involved as the Project Lead for the Engineers without Borders Ecuador Project. Nate also participates in research at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, where he will begin his independent project this Fall. He is also a member of the Club Volleyball Team. In his spare time, he enjoys playing volleyball, wallyball, and swimming. At the conclusion of his undergraduate career, Nate will be pursuing a career in Optometry and has plans to enroll in a Doctor of Optometry program in the Fall of 2017.

Kristen Northrup

Kristen is a junior from Scotch Plains, New Jersey majoring in Psychology with minors in Business Management and Philosophy. She is part of the school’s Civic Scholar program and is actively engaged in community service in the Miami area. Kristen serves as a peer educator for COPE (Counseling Outreach Peer Education) for the school’s counseling center. She is also a member of Alpha Delta Pi and Psi Chi National Honor Society. She is currently a Research Assistant for the Child Anxiety Mood and Treatment program in the school’s psychology department. In the future, she plans to pursue a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology. In her free time, Kristen enjoys baking, running, Netflix, and volunteering.

Erika Rogers

Erika is a junior from Hanover, Massachusetts majoring in Public Relations with minors in English, Marketing and Psychology. She is the PR representative for the Art For Kids Organization and is actively engaged in community service in the Miami area. Erika serves as an Athletic Tutor through the Hecht Athletic Center, and she is also a member of Alpha Delta Pi. She is currently an Intern for Spaulding Rehabilitation Network, working with their Development and Communications team. In the future, she plans to pursue a career in communications. In her free time, Erika enjoys reading, going to the gym, Netflix, and volunteering.​

Alexander Klar

Alex is a sophomore from Milwaukee, Wisconsin majoring in Public Health and Spanish on the Pre-med track. He is heavily involved with Student Government and the Multicultural Students Affairs office, as well as a member of Phi Delta Epsilon pre-medical fraternity, Kappa Sigma fraternity, and is a member of the President's 100. He enjoys traveling, eating exotically whenever possible, and salsa dancing. He is excited to be a part of PIER 21, and looks forward to spreading awareness of drug abuse on campus.
