Samantha Martin – Graduate Assistant

Samantha Joined the Sandler Center in Fall 2016 as the Graduate Assistant. She was born and raised in Melbourne, Florida just three hours north of Miami. She is pursuing a Master's degree in Higher Education Administration with a concentration in Student Life and Development. Her bachelor’s degree in Psychology is from Florida State University. Samantha is happy to help the Sandler center in educating students on safe practices regarding alcohol and other drugs. She wants to make sure students are receiving the tools they need to be successful during their studies. In her free time, she enjoys playing golf, reading, traveling, and taking her 4-year-old puppy, Smokey, on long walks.

Rachel Askowitz - Public Health Intern

Rachel is joining the staff as a Public Health Intern in the Fall 2017. She was born and raised in Miami and graduated from Emory University with a degree in Human Health and a minor in Sociology. In college, she taught a health class to freshmen students, was a tour guide, and was Vice President of Recruitment Counselors for Emory Panhellenic Council. She is currently a student in the Department of Public Health Sciences, pursuing a Master's in Public Health. In her free time, she likes to travel, read, and listen to show tunes. She is excited to work with the Sandler Center staff and raise awareness of the importance of prevention on UM's campus!

Annie Cappetta – Peer Educator

Annie is a senior from Chicago, Illinois majoring in Ecosystem Science and Policy and Political Science with minors in Climate Science and Policy and Judaic Studies. She is the managing editor of The Miami Hurricane newspaper, as well as the president of the CommUnity Garden student organization. Annie also contributes to the food magazine Edible South Florida. In the future, she plans attend law school and pursue environmental law. In her free time, Annie enjoys eating and cooking adventurously, gardening, beekeeping, and making friends with dogs.

Madison Guido – Peer Educator

Madison is a junior from Colts Neck, New Jersey, following the pre-health track. She is majoring in Biology and minoring in Chemistry and Spanish. Madison dreams to one day be a plastic surgeon for trauma patients. Madison is extremely passionate about helping people in her community, as she is on the executive board for National Gandhi Day of Service and is a Campus Ambassador for The Gift of Life Marrow Registry. In addition, she conducts research at The Miami Project to Cure Paralysis. In her spare time Madison enjoys traveling and going to the beach. This is Madison's first year as a Peer Educator, and she cannot wait to see the great things that the team will accomplish this year!

Milind "Mili" Khurana – Peer Educator

Mili is a junior from Sebring, Florida, with plans on going to Law School. He is actively involved with Multicultural Student Affairs, Student Government, and is a member of the Undergraduate Honor Council. He has a love of learning about new cultures and going to new places. He is always looking for a new adventure. Mili is extremely excited to begin working with Sandler Center to help promote healthy choices on campus.

Alexander Klar – Peer Educator

Alex is a senior from Milwaukee, Wisconsin majoring in Public Health and Spanish on the Pre-med track. He is heavily involved with Student Government and the Multicultural Students Affairs office, as well as a member of Phi Delta Epsilon pre-medical fraternity, Kappa Sigma fraternity, and is a member of the President's 100. He enjoys traveling, eating exotically whenever possible, and salsa dancing. He is excited to be a part of the Sandler Center, and looks forward to spreading awareness of drug abuse on campus.

Erika Rogers – Peer Educator

Erika is a Senior from Hanover, Massachusetts majoring in Public Relations with minors in English, Marketing and Psychology. She is the PR representative for Alpha Delta Pi Sorority and is actively engaged in community service in the Miami area. This past summer, she was busy working for the Lowe Art Museum as a PR and Media Management Intern, as well as for Pacific54 Marketing Agency in Wynwood as a Digital Media and Marketing Intern, and she will continue her work with Pacific54 throughout the coming academic year. In the future, she plans to pursue a career in communications. In her free time, Erika enjoys reading, going to the gym, Netflix, volunteering, adding new connections on LinkedIn and learning about the latest digital trends.
